Management of the Acutely
Evidence Based Poster Assessment Guidelines
Rationale
Posters are a legitimate form of communication in professional arenas (Zevenbergen 1999). They are valid forums for communication in conferences where short statements of research are expected. They offer a medium that stimulates concise communication and discussion. Where students have undertaken posters as a component of their assessment, it has been reported that they have a greater retention in the areas of their poster topic when performance, is measured on examinations (Lowry, 1992).
This assessment has three components
This assessment has three components
1. Research
2. Design
3. Construct a poster
Focus on an important clinical issue that impact on the acutely ill ward patient. Use the literature to develop knowledge, understanding, and challenge practice in relation to this issue.
1. The title, colour of the poster, size of print, and content should catch the reader’s interest at a glance.
2. The title should immediately inform the reader of the topic content as it relates to research, a discussion, or demonstration of an idea.
3. Text information should be in key points to avoid over-crowding of the poster. However, balance this with sufficient scientific information for the reader.
4. All text must be typed, avoid using abbreviations, acronyms and jargon. Use a consistent style throughout.
5. Preferred fonts are Verdana, Times New Roman or Arial font. Minimum size font should be size 24.
6. Use illustrations, graphs, and pictures to illustrate key points and to capture the reader’s interest. All illustrations, graphs and pictures should be referenced
7. Referencing using number code with full reference at the bottom right hand corner is required or on the back of the poster. For example, Queensland currently has the highest rate in Australia for skin cancer1. At the bottom or back of your poster place the full reference: 1.Mitchell. M. (2003) Skin cancer awareness, Journal of Dermatology, 5 (4), 30-35
8. Initial sketch: plan your poster early. Focus your attention on a few key points. Try various styles of presenting your data to achieve clarity and simplicity. Does the use of colour help? What needs to be expressed in words? Suggest headlines and the text topics.
9. Rough layout: Enlarge your best initial sketch, keeping the dimensions in proportion to the final poster. Ideally, the rough layout should be full size. Draw rough grafts and tables (if they are to be included) to see if they ‘work’ within the rest of your content. Ask for feedback from peers or family.
10. Final layout: The artwork is complete. The text and table are typed but not necessarily enlarged to full size. Now ask: Is the message clear? Do the important points stand out? Is there balance between words and illustrations? Is the pathway thorough the poster clear for the reader?
11. Movement: the pathway of the eye over the poster ought to be naturally down the columns like with a newspaper. That is, long stretches of type across the poster do not work well for the reader. Use arrows or numbers to indicate the direction of flow if necessary.
12. Simplicity: the temptation to overload the poster should be resisted. More material may mean less communication. Ask yourself, what do I want the viewer to remember?
• All posters follow a basic structure and this includes:

Philosophy of Communication Final paper -Coursework

Order Description

Hello dear writer,

So although I chose "Communication Strategies" as the subject area, but the subject or the class I am taking is "Philosophy of Communication". I would like you to help me construct and form "the topic" and "the description" of this paper, and this is for my final paper for this class. I will upload an audio that includes a discussion between myself and my mentor about how could the paper’s title/topic be framed and what would it cover.

Our discussion was long so you will notice that the recording is cut in certain places and then it would continue and that’s because I have
re-recorded the important parts that would be helpful to form the title and description of the paper.

So, I would like you to kindly help me to develop or construct the following from going over the audio:

1- form a title for the paper ( and you will hear my mentor mention a title in the recording, and you may use that and you also could develop your own as long as it holds the same content.

2- under the title section I would like you to form a "description" section, which is self explanatory, where it explains more and elaborates more on what the title means or covers. (you will also hear my mentor suggests what would this paper covers.

You should know that when I talked with the professor teaching this class he mentioned the idea of "existentialism" and I am mentioning this because at the beginning of the audio you will hear my mentor, who’s another person and not the professor, reflecting on this idea of " existentialism" and explaining how this idea can be interpreted and used in this paper. Of course my mentor heard my professor’s session with me as it was recorded and then we had the discussion that you will hear.

I hope I wasn’t confusing you with this, but I thought it would be helpful for when you start to listen to the recording to understand why my mentor started the way she did.

3- I would like you to list (from the recording) the sources I need to use for this paper.

So basically I want you to write up the title and the description and what are the sources to look at in a more formal and academically presentable way.

I really hope that you would accept to work with me on this part. And please let me know if you need anything.

What are the critical successes factors in promoting a music artist online.

Introduction:

Everyone has a main goal they would like to achieve in life, or an ambition they would like to fulfill, mine was simply to be in the music industry. Unfortunately for me, assembling and performing music was not one of my strong points or one of my biggest talents. The great thing about the music industry is that there are many aspects to it; it is not just about recording a song and simply releasing it. One thing that particularly intrigued me about the industry is how much work is involved in the promotion side. How you promote an artist is the single most important factor to their success and it has become more vital in the world we live in today. Living in an age where the Internet is the most popular source of sharing information, it is vital that the artist has a strong online promotion campaign. Promoting online is a strategy that is particularly clever; the more fans feel involved in something, the higher the chance that they contribute to an artist’s success, as they feel emotionally and physically involved. In order to complete this project to a high standard, my understanding of how you can promote an artist online needs expanding. For this main reason, the title of my project will be “What are the critical success factors in promoting a music artist online”. This title will give me the freedom to critically investigate methods and techniques to successfully promote a music artist online.

Background:

In the article “How To Be A Famous Musician Online” the unknown writer (C7) 2012 elaborates on the importance of online promotion and gives examples of artists who have become famous from the Internet. With the recent burst of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, it comes as no surprise that many music artists have been able to exploit this phenomenon to their advantage. Social media has increased artists’ success, whether it is by them promoting their songs, videos and gigs or by just interacting with fans to make them feel more involved with their day-to-day lives. This helps sell songs, tickets for tours and also any other merchandise. By using the web to promote their “brand”, it has greatly helped artists’ as it is a quick and easy way to let fans know about any upcoming singles, tours etc. With millions using social networking sites, it is always hard to be oblivious to certain news. For example, many artists will use their own twitter and Facebook pages to promote their official website by linking them to their accounts. This means that any information that is posted on their official website will automatically appear on their social networking site.

Research aim:

* Explore how an artist is promoted online

* Examine if online promotion is the strongest promotion technique

* Investigate how promotion is targeted to a certain audience

* Explore different online facilities artists can promote their music

* Market research/Styles of promoting different genres

Research objectives:

* Questionnaire

* Interview an artist

* Analyse online music videos

* Analyse website techniques

* Look at previous online campaigns

* Analyse online trends

* Focus groups
