Order Description
I have already used the sediment samples and I have extracted, draw and identified the mollusc species from a fossil site at Deeping St. James, Lincolnshire. The sediment samples of the mollusc species that I used in the lab are 6 mollusc species which are:
1) Bithynia tentaculata.
I found 9 of this species
2) Valvata piscinalis.
I found 12 of this species
3) Theodoxus fluviatilis.
I found 7 of this species
4) Oxyloma pfeifferi.
I found 1 of this species
5) Lymnaea peregra.
I found 2 of this species
6) Pisidium amnicum.
I found 2 of this species.
Consequently, you have to write the report about these 6 samples of mollusc species by:
Using the computer-based ‘Slugs’ package and reference books, briefly describe and tabulate the ecology of each mollusc species I have identified.
Using ALL lines of evidence (multi-proxy), reconstruct the palaeoenvironment under which the sediment was deposited and the fossil organisms lived, and explain how you came to this conclusion. Your account should also include a reconstructive sketch of the Deeping St. James site as it appeared during the Ipswichian Stage.
Moreover, I have uploaded a file which has more details regarding this report and also there are numbers of useful references. There is also a table of the name of mollusc species also how many of each species in the file that I have uploaded it. So, you have to read them to write this report please.
