Music and Culture: Race, Power, and Appropriation
In every class students are to submit a one page reflection on the topics covered in the previous class. Rather than simply re-iterating the subject matter, reflection papers should demonstrate a critical approach. (For example: What is the significance of the thing(s) discussed/why did we discuss them? What questions are we left with? Does the subject matter relate to anything outside of the class? Etc.) Take a moment to think about what was discussed and what it means in a broader context. You may write informally for this assignment.
