Point Memo Memo government requiring non profit to comply with Affordable Care Act
The government may require the owners of a for-profit corporation, who are Scientologists, to comply with the Affordable Care Act’s mental health mandate, which requires them to offer health insurance that covers psychotherapy and psychiatric drugs, which they claim violates their freedom of religion.
They can come from within Hobby Lobby or our other readings on religious liberty. Pay close attention to the sections of the Hobby Lobby opinion that limit the scope of the ruling.
